Magamba Nature Forest Reserve

“A place of Sight and Scenes”

The reserve is located in North Eastern part of Tanzania within Lushoto and Korogwe Districts in Tanga Region. The reserve covers an area of 9283.9 ha and is part of West Usambara Mountain 
Ranges. Magamba is uniquely identified by a German cave and oldest skyline in East Africa as well as a fascinating stone with a human being foot step, known as “Jiwe la Mungu”.

TOURIST  ATTRACTIONS 
The spectacular viewpoints at Kiguluhakwea and Kwehondo peak, old German cave, oldest Skyline in East Africa; waterfalls, diverse bird species, two horned chameleons, moths and   butterflies of unique attractive colors; Grewal pond and astonishing landscape.

ECOTOURISM  ACTIVITIES 
Magamba is perfect for; hiking, historical site visiting, view of the the oldest Skyline, Camping, Forest Walk, Photographing, Research and Educational Tours, Bird Watching, cold  Swimming     in the   waterfall plunge pool.

ACCESSIBILITY 
The reserve can easily be accessed by road from Dar es salaam to Lushoto 340 km or from Kilimanjaro to Lushoto about 310 km. From Lushoto to the reserve is only 9 km.

Other tourist attractions near Magamba are, Amani, Chome and Nilo Nature Forest Reserves, Irente and Mambo view Points, Kisasa Waterfall, German Cemetery Mkomazi National Park. Vegetable Farms and Cultural Tourism Enterprises at Lushoto.

ACCOMMODATION

The reserve offers camping facilities. Other  accommodations like hotels, lodges and rest houses can be secured at Lushoto town.
