Wino forest plantation is located in Madaba district, Ruvuma region. The plantation headquarters is at about 135 km from Songea Municipal along the main road to Njombe. The altitude of the plantation ranges between 1,400 to 1,700 m.a.s.l.

The plantation covers a total area of about 17,038 ha, which is administratively divided into three blocks, namely, Wino (2,038 ha), Ifinga (10,000 ha) and Mkongotema (5,000 ha).

Wino forest plantation is among of the newly established plantation by Central government, and became operational in 2012. It is planted mainly with Pinus patula, Pinus elliottii and Pinus caribbea, covering a total area of 3,388 ha by 2018.
