Uluguru Mountain Nature Forest Reserve
ULUGURU MOUNTAIN NATURE FOREST RESERVE
“A Home to Uluguru Bushshrike”
The reserve is part of the Eastern Arc Mountains, which is among the 25 biodiversity hotspot in the world. The area covered by forest is 24,115ha that stretch between Morogoro and Mvomero Districts.
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
These include; swampy areas, Mountain peaks, Waterfalls, the Headquarter of the Waluguru traditional leader-Chief King’alu, the Historical German settlements at morning site, the famous national agged Grasshopper, Wild berries and spices such as cinnamon, unique Chameleons with one to three horns, Endemic birds such as Uluguru Bushshrike (kurumbizi), Panicum lukwangulensis-unique grasses found only in Lukwangule.

The place is ideal for Bird Watching, Hiking, Trekking, Forest Walk, Camping, Research and, Sunrise and Sunset Viewing, Cultural Tourism, Photographing, Wild Berry Picking, Swimming in Hululu pond, Meditation and Worshiping at Hululu waterfalls and rituals sites and Picnic.
ACCESSIBILITY
The reserve can be accessed by road from Morogoro town via any of the four routes, which are Morogoro to Kibaoni-Bunduki-Vinile; Morogoro to Morningside-Bondwa; Morogoro to Kinole and Morogoro to Kibaoni -Nyandira - Tchenzema to Lukwangule.
