Kalambo Nature Forest Reserve

“The land of roaring waterfall”

TOURIST  ATTRACTIONS

Besides the waterfalls, there are; the Kalambo Gorge at downstream, a beautiful beach on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, hot water spring at Kizombwe village, wild animals such as  elephants and wild pigs, ritual sites, cultural attractions like Rungu Drama from Kalambo village and several archaeological resources.

ECOTOURISM  ACTIVITIES

The reserve offers a number of ecotourism experiences including hiking, camping, picnicking, walking safari, filming, photographing, primate watching, meditation, research and sightseeing.

ACCESSIBILITY

The reserve can be accessed by road from Mbeya via Sumbawanga Municipality about 440 km or from Mpanda town about 277 km. Both Mbeya and Katavi have modern Airports that service domestic   air flights.

NEARBY TOURIST ATTRACTIONS SITES

Other tourist attractions near Kalambo are Lake Tanganyika, Kasanga Port, Bismarck ruins, Great Rift Valley View Point at Mbizi Forest, Katavi National Park and Lwafi Game Reserve.

The reserve offers camping facilities. Other accommodation facilities can be secured in the nearby hotels at Kasanga and Sumbawanga Conservator, 
towns.
